A trained user is far more effective than an untrained one — we strongly recommend you take a free Stop the Bleed course (stopthebleed.org) before relying on any trauma kit. That said, all NAR components have detailed instructions printed on their packaging, and the basic skill set (apply tourniquet HIGH and TIGHT, pack the wound, seal the chest) can be learned in 90 minutes.
The IPOK is NAR's smallest carry-everywhere trauma kit — focused on the 4 absolute life-savers (tourniquet, gauze, chest seal, gloves). The M-FAK Mini is a step up with more comprehensive supplies and a slightly bigger pouch. For one-officer everyday carry, IPOK. For squad car or range bag, M-FAK.
Combat Gauze and HyFin Chest Seals carry expiration dates (typically 4-5 years from manufacture). The CAT Tourniquet doesn't expire but should be replaced if it shows wear or has been deployed once. We recommend rotating consumables every 4 years and inspecting your kit annually.
Yes — every IPOK ships with a genuine NAR-manufactured CAT Gen 7. Counterfeit CATs (often sold cheaply on Amazon and eBay) have been documented to fail catastrophically under load. We only source from NAR directly to guarantee authenticity.
Yes — the pouch is fully MOLLE/PALS compatible and attaches to any standard MOLLE webbing on plate carriers, war belts, range bags, or backpacks. The IPOK also slips inside most cargo pockets if you prefer concealed carry.
