About the PMAG 30 GEN M3
The Magpul PMAG 30 AR/M4 GEN M3 is the third-generation, multi-platform 30-round 5.56 NATO polymer magazine — the evolution of the most-issued AR-15 magazine on the planet. Reinforced polymer body, four-way anti-tilt self-lubricating follower, USGI-spec stainless steel spring, and dual-step paint pen dot matrix for marking.
What separates the GEN M3 from the older GEN M2 (MOE) is fitment: M3 was redesigned to drop into HK 416 / MR556A1 / M27 IAR, FN SCAR MK 16, and the British SA80 (L85A2) — without sacrificing standard AR-15/M4/M16 compatibility. Internal geometry was also revised for significantly improved .300 BLK subsonic feeding. If you run anything beyond a basic AR-15, the M3 is the magazine to standardize on.

Should I buy the GEN M3 or the GEN M2 MOE?
If you only run a standard AR-15/M4, the MOE (GEN M2) is fine and cheaper. If you run HK416, SCAR, SA80, or shoot subsonic .300 BLK, choose the GEN M3 — its updated geometry is significantly more reliable.
Will the GEN M3 work in a standard AR-15?
Yes — fully backward-compatible with all AR-15 / M4 / M16 lowers chambered in 5.56 NATO or .223 Rem.
Is the GEN M3 better for .300 Blackout?
Yes. Magpul revised the internal geometry to feed both 5.56 and .300 BLK reliably. The M3 is the only PMAG generation rated for full .300 BLK subsonic compatibility.
Does it fit my pouches and chest rig?
Yes — the M3 retains a standard USGI/STANAG external envelope. Fits any AR/M4 pouch designed for 30-round mags.
Is the spring USGI-spec?
